Tuesday, November 07, 2006 Music - Hayley Westenra

Every once in a while I disover something on itunes that makes the muse sit up and take notice. Tonight, it was music by Hayley Westerna. Beautiful, haunting vocal music, her voice sounds like one of the angels. Her cover of Enya's "May It Be" (which I've also heard covered by Celtic Woman, another one of my favorite groups) is just as haunting as the origional, and not only does it conjure up images of Frodo and Sam on their journey, but also all of us on the journey of our hopes and our dreams.

And I find, as I'm writing about the frozen north, the ice-crystal clear days, of plumes of breath and a struggle to survive that the haunting quality of Ms. Westenra's voice really fits the mood. It's the kind of music that makes your heart swell, and because of it, there's just a little bit more room for the muse.

Wow...

And on the NaNoWriMo total? 17,163 words. I love my polar bear shapeshifters. :)
